GWM has continued its strong 2026 momentum, delivering a record-breaking monthly sales result in March and reinforcing its growing position in the Australian automotive market.

The result marks a significant milestone for the brand, driven by sustained demand across its expanding New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio, which includes Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). Australian consumers have rapidly sought solutions that balance efficiency, capability, range, and value in response to rising fuel costs and broader macroeconomic pressures. The brand’s breadth of choice, combined with a wider suite of electrified pathways tailored to different lifestyles and driving needs, has positioned GWM strongly in a rapidly evolving market.

According to VFACTS national sales data, GWM delivered 5,680 vehicles in March 2026, securing a record 5.4% market share (+0.9pts vs. June 2025) and achieving 7th position overall. This represents a volume increase of 28.5% year-to-date (YTD), up 4% uplift on the brand’s previous monthly record set in June 2025.

Further highlighting this momentum, New Energy Vehicles accounted for 46% of GWM’s total sales in March, underscoring the accelerating shift in consumer demand towards electrified mobility. Within this, GWM’s PHEV range, now consisting of five distinct models, delivered a strong performance, accounting for 12.5% of total PHEV sales nationally and securing 2nd position in the segment, with the H6 PHEV range performing particularly well. Hybrid also contributed significantly, achieving 5.2% market share and ranking 4th overall, with both Jolion and H6 delivering more than 500 units each.

Model performance across the portfolio further reflects this momentum. The H6 delivered 1,665 units, up 12% YTD, while the Jolion recorded 2,013 units, up 34.8% YTD. The GWM Ora achieved 302 units, representing growth of almost 300% year-to-date, reinforcing accelerating demand for battery electric vehicles given the current macro conditions.

Supporting this result is GWM Australia’s extensive national footprint, with 125 dealers across the country. This network reinforces GWM’s position as the largest Chinese automotive OEM in Australia by dealer coverage, ensuring strong accessibility for customers nationwide and delivering confidence through comprehensive sales and aftersales support.

“March results accelerated in line with prevailing macroeconomic conditions, and the speed at which customers have moved towards GWM as a smarter alternative was genuinely striking to see,” John Kett, GWM COO said. “It reflects the strength of GWM’s strategic planning around powertrains and our focus on building one of the most diversified New Energy Vehicle line-ups in the market, spanning hybrid, PHEV and BEV technologies.”

“With 125 dealers nationwide, we are well equipped to support our growing customer base, ensuring seamless transition to an electrified future is attainable and accessible to all Australians.”

GWM Australia extends its sincere thanks to its dealer partners, customers, and internal teams for their continued support. This collective effort has been instrumental in driving sustained growth and building strong confidence in the brand.

Looking ahead, GWM remains focused on continued expansion of its NEV offering, opening further opportunities for Australians to transition towards a smarter and greener alternative.
