GWM is pleased to announce the arrival of the latest-generation H6GT Hi4 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), introducing the brand’s advanced Hi4 intelligent hybrid all-wheel drive technology alongside a comprehensively upgraded cabin that now aligns with the broader H6 range. While retaining its recognisable coupe-inspired exterior design, the interior has been significantly elevated, headlined by the integration of the latest Coffee OS infotainment system.
The updated H6GT Hi4 PHEV is available now with driveaway pricing of $52,990.
Positioned as a performance-inspired yet efficiency-led SUV, the H6GT PHEV was first introduced as GWM’s first plug-in hybrid in 2025, marking a pivotal step in the brand’s electrification strategy. Since launch, it has gained strong traction in market, with more than 2,300 units sold to date. This momentum has driven a significant shift in powertrain preference, with electrified variants now accounting for 51.5% of total H6GT sales versus petrol.
According to national VFACTS data, the PHEV variant has also secured a 3.3% share of the Australian PHEV segment, underscoring its early impact in a rapidly growing category. When combined with the broader H6 range, GWM has delivered more than 2,700 plug-in hybrid vehicles in just 14 months, highlighting accelerating consumer adoption and the brand’s expanding role in Australia’s electrified SUV market. In March, GWM was Australia’s second biggest seller of Plug In Hybrid EVs.
Hi4 Intelligent Hybrid AWD Technology
Now synergised across the H6 range, the new H6GT Hi4 PHEV integrates GWM’s Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD) system, an advanced electrified all-wheel drive architecture designed to optimise efficiency, traction and performance across a wide range of driving conditions.
Hi4 combines a dedicated hybrid powertrain with dual-motor electric all-wheel drive capability, enabling intelligent torque distribution between the front and rear axles. The system continuously analyses driving inputs, road surface conditions and power demand to seamlessly balance efficiency and performance in real time.
The result is a PHEV AWD system engineered to deliver confidence, composure and efficiency across city, highway and variable terrain, with key benefits including:
· Intelligent all-wheel drive control for enhanced traction and stability
· Optimised real-world efficiency, prioritising electric operation where appropriate
· Seamless hybrid operation, blending petrol and electric power without perceptible transitions
· Adaptive performance delivery, supporting both urban efficiency and dynamic driving capability
Underpinning this intelligent system is a compelling performance and efficiency package. The H6GT PHEV produces a combined 321kW of power and 642Nm of torque, delivering rapid acceleration from 0–100 km/h in as little as 4.6 seconds. Equipped with a 35.43kWh battery, it achieves a class-leading electric-only driving range of up to 183km (NEDC), while maintaining an exceptionally low combined fuel consumption of just 0.6L/100km (NEDC). Complementing its strong electric capability, the model also offers a combined driving range of up to 1,183km, providing both everyday efficiency and long-distance confidence.
Significantly Upgraded Interior with H6 Design DNA and Coffee OS
The H6GT Hi4 PHEV’s interior has been comprehensively upgraded, bringing it into alignment with the latest H6 design philosophy. A cleaner, more minimalist layout underpins a suite of enhancements that elevate comfort, technology and overall design. Improved ergonomics and higher-quality material selection contribute to a more refined and cohesive experience across the H6 range, while suede-appointed seats embossed with ‘GT’ provide a distinctive sporty edge.
The cabin now features the same minimalist aesthetic as the H6, highlighted by a sleek, column-mounted gearselector that frees up space on the centre console for additional storage and provides space for a dedicated wireless phone charger.
A key highlight of the interior transformation is the introduction of Coffee OS, GWM’s advanced intelligent operating system that powers infotainment, connectivity and in-vehicle interaction. Powered from the substantial 14.6-inch 1080P resolution infotainment display, the new Coffee OS delivers significantly faster processing speeds and a more intuitive user experience, Coffee OS is designed to deliver a more seamless and intuitive digital experience, integrating core vehicle functions, entertainment and connectivity into a unified interface. The system reduces complexity for the driver while enhancing responsiveness and personalisation. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, allowing for effortless smartphone mirroring and access to navigation, media, and communications without the need for cables, enhancing day-to-day convenience and entertainment.
Together, the upgraded interior and Coffee OS integration deliver a more modern, connected and user-focused cabin environment aligned with evolving customer expectations.
Electrified Performance with Everyday Versatility
The H6GT Hi4 PHEV delivers full SUV practicality, enhanced by the everyday efficiency of plug-in hybrid technology. It enables electric-only driving for short urban trips, while retaining hybrid range confidence for longer journeys. Alongside this electrified capability, the petrol H6GT variant remains available, ensuring customers can select the powertrain that best aligns with their driving needs, usage patterns and budget.
This latest update strengthens the wider H6 family, which spans petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with all-wheel drive available across key variants. Within this structure, the sporty, coupe-inspired H6GT Hi4 PHEV plays a central role, broadening customer choice and reinforcing GWM’s focus on both value and choice.
