  • Market Share: Captured 4.7% of the total New Zealand automotive market.

  • 7th Standing: Secured 7th position overall in the industry for the month of June and year to date.

  • Rapid Expansion: Achieved a remarkable 42% growth compared to the same month last year.

Product Success Drivers

The historic result was driven by strong consumer demand across GWM’s diverse multi-powertrain lineup:

  • GWM Haval H6: The popular SUV continued its stellar run, delivering 240 registrations, proving its value, tech, and safety appeal to Kiwi families.

  • GWM Cannon: The robust ute range experienced powerful volume growth, capturing vital market share in both the commercial and recreational segments.

  • GWM ORA: The recent launch of the all-electric ORA 5 SUV injected fresh momentum into the brand, attracting urban commuters and eco-conscious buyers looking for accessible EV technology.

  • Go Local, Grow More: partnering with the New Zealand Warriors to help the brand resonate with kiwi buys as part of the international strategy to support locally activities within GWM’s international markets.

"This record-breaking month is a testament to the strength of our product pipeline and the dedication of our national dealer network as well as starting to show the result of our Go Local, Grow More strategy," said Cameron Thomas, Country Manager, GWM New Zealand.

"Reaching the top five for the second time this year proves that Kiwis increasingly trust GWM to deliver high-quality, high-tech vehicles that offer incredible value, whether they are buying an EV, an SUV, or a hardworking ute."

GWM New Zealand looks forward to maintaining this strong momentum through the remainder of 2026 with continued vehicle supply and customer-focused innovative models.
